About Long Island Yellow Jackets

Established in 1999, the club has multiple teams in the US Club Lax top 25 and is ranked #2 on US Club Lax for girls. Long Island "Elite" Yellow Jackets is a girls' lacrosse club serving Long Island, NY, running a full-year program spanning fall, winter, spring, and summer. Practices and club training activities are hosted at SUFFOLK PAL.

PROGRAMS
Programs

Teams are organized by graduating class from 2028 through 2037 by coach rather than an A/B level distinction, following annual tryouts in late July. The summer travel commitment runs from April through July, including 4-5 tournaments per team. Fall practices begin mid-September, while fall tournament rosters are formed on a first-come, first-served basis. During winter, all teams practice with costs split per team that are not included in membership fee totals. Spring weekend practices take place on Saturdays and Sundays, lasting about 1.5-2 hours.

TUITION
Cost to play

Published tuition includes a tryout fee $75.00 and membership paid in four installments of $850.00 each ($3,400 total, taxes may apply), with lower payments for Class of 2028 and 2037. Membership covers summer tournaments, a minimum of 20 club practice sessions, performance training, cost of fields & equipment, and club salaries & expenses. The tryout fee is non-refundable, membership is non-refundable once accepted, fall tournaments are at an additional cost, and winter workouts are not included in the fee with costs set by the coach.

Consistent team coaches
The club notes its staff includes HS coaches, collegiate players, World Cup players, and All-Americans, with two adult coaches assigned per team who remain consistent year over year and are compensated by the club for coaching and travel expenses.

Player development director
Director of Player Development Al Bertolone has served as coach and director since 2004, won 4 NY State Championships at Mt Sinai HS, and had over 60 players who went on to play collegiately.

Recruiting Director and Coach Alexis Curcio has served as Head Coach & Director of the Yellow Jackets since 2005, previously coaching at Sachem North HS and mentoring 16 Division I commitments.
Championship winning coaches
Director and Coach Rebecca Thorn won 2x NY State Champion titles and was an All American at Hofstra University, while Director and Coach Lindsay Rella was a US Lacrosse National Champion 2019 coach who played club lacrosse at Syracuse University.
Youth development leadership
Director of Player Development K-2 Raquel Piraino was a US Lacrosse Club National Champion coach, while Director of Player Development K-2 and Coach Mary Romano Cetta was an Academic All American at Hofstra.
